I am Professor. M. S. “Sam” Eljamel, Consultant Neurosurgeon graduated with honours MBBCh in 1982, a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (FRCSIr) and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCSEd). My qualifications include the intercollegiate fellowship in Neurosurgery (FRCS-Neurosurgery) and an M.D with distinction in neurosciences from Liverpool University. The higher surgical training committee in Neurosurgery-UK awarded me a certificate of completion of specialist training in Neurosurgery (CCST-UK) in 1993 and my name appears on the specialist register of the General Medical Council (GMC). I had also completed a clinical fellowship in Neurosurgery at the University of Connecticut & Hartford Hospital, Connecticut, USA in 1995, before taking up my post, Consultant Neurosurgeon in Tayside, Scotland. I have been a Consultant Neurosurgeon since 1995 and I have been a National Panellist in Neurosurgery for 8 years and Head of the Service at Ninewells Hospital & Medical School. My practice covers all aspects of general Neurosurgery, Skull Base Surgery, Spinal Surgery, Stereotactic & Keyhole Neurosurgery and Functional Neurosurgery (Epilepsy, Movement Disorders and Chronic pain). I have developed extensive experience in diagnosing and treating both head and spinal injuries. In 1996, I was appointed Head of Department, Surgical Neurology, University of Dundee, in 1998 appointed Clinical Lead for Neurosurgery and Pain Service, From 2000, I fulfilled the role; Speciality Advisor - Neurosurgery, in 2006 I took the Chairmanship of Clinical Governance Specialist Services Group, I was elected secretary of British Stereotactic & Functional Neurosurgery Group in 2006, joined the Executive Committee of AANS/CNS-Tumor Section in 2007, elected board member of International Photodynamic Association (IPA) in 2008, and elected Vice President of British International Doctors Association in 2008.
