Department of Neurosurgery at Dundee:
The Department of Neurosurgery in Dundee was founded by the late Joe Block and Ivan Jacobson in 1960s. It was officially openned by Sir Norman Dott in 1966. TRK Varma replaced Joe Block and Douglas Gentleman joined in early 1990s.
Sam Eljamel replaced Ivan Jacobson in 1995. In 1996 Peter Mathews replaced D Gentleman. In 2000, Eric Ballantyne replaced TRK Varma and in 2003 David Mowle replaced Peter Mathews.
The department was in a purpose built wing in Dundee Royal Infirmary until Nov 13th, 1998 when it moved to the new build on the 6th Floor of the South Block at Ninewells Hospital and Medical School.
